HostWelcome to the Workplace Ethics Forum. I am Dr Park, and I will guide you through five ethical scenarios today.
HostScenario one: a manager learns that a staff member is about to be made redundant, but is not permitted to inform the individual yet. The manager must protect sensitive personnel information.
HostScenario two: an employee is asked to approve a contract with a supplier who is also a personal friend. The employee must recognise that this situation creates a potential bias.
HostScenario three: a team leader notices that one team member consistently receives worse task allocations than others without any professional justification.
HostScenario four: an employee discovers that a colleague has been reporting false progress figures to senior management. The right response is to disclose this accurately and honestly.
HostScenario five: an employee uses the company printer and stationery for a personal side project, without seeking approval from the organisation.
