LecturerToday I'll follow a plastic bottle from your bin to its new life, so you can see recycling really works.
LecturerIt starts when a lorry collects the bottle and takes it to a sorting plant.
LecturerAt the plant, the first step is sorting, where machines separate plastic from paper and metal.
LecturerThe plastic is then washed, because any food or dirt would spoil the new product.
LecturerNext, the clean plastic is cut into tiny pieces called flakes.
LecturerThose flakes are melted and shaped into small pellets, which factories can use like raw material.
