LecturerGood morning. Today's nutrient is the one we most often forget, yet cannot live without — water. Let me clear up some common myths about hydration.
LecturerLet's start with scale. The human body is about sixty per cent water, so even small changes in that level can affect how we feel.
LecturerEven mild dehydration has very real effects. The first thing to suffer, studies find, is usually your concentration.
LecturerNow, you have all heard that you must drink eight glasses a day. In truth, that famous figure is a myth, with no real scientific basis.
LecturerA far better guide is simply this: drink when you feel thirsty. The body is rather good at telling you what it needs.
LecturerAnother quick check is the colour of your urine — a pale straw colour means you are nicely hydrated.
