GuideOur first case holds the microwave oven. Its inventor noticed a chocolate bar melting in his pocket near a radar set — it was discovered completely by accident.
GuideNext, the light bulb. People forget how long it took: the team tested thousands of materials, and it took over twenty years to perfect.
GuideNow look at the case for the trampoline. Remarkably, it was invented by a teenager who wanted a safer way for gymnasts to land.
GuideBeside it, the telephone. Hard to believe today, but when first shown, it was first laughed at by experts who called it a useless toy.
GuideAnd here's the case I love: Velcro. Its maker studied the burrs that stuck to his dog's fur, so it was copied from nature.
