LecturerGood afternoon. Today I want to explore how remote working is reshaping the modern workplace.
LecturerBefore the pandemic, only about eight per cent of UK employees worked from home regularly. That figure has now risen to over forty per cent.
LecturerThe benefits are clear — workers report saving an average of fifty minutes per day that was previously spent commuting.
LecturerHowever, research shows that remote workers face a greater risk of isolation. Around sixty per cent say they feel less connected to colleagues.
LecturerFor deep, focused tasks such as writing or coding, working from home can increase output by twenty per cent.
LecturerBut for collaborative or creative tasks, the office tends to produce better results. Face-to-face brainstorming is harder to replicate online.
