GuideWelcome to EnergyWorks. We have five hands-on exhibits, and I'll explain what each one teaches before you try them.
GuideRight by the door is the Bike Stop. It's the children's favourite: it lets you pedal to power a light, the harder you go, the brighter it shines.
GuideNext to it is the Sun Box, a clear panel that shows how a solar cell works by turning light straight into a tiny current.
GuideIn the middle stands the Home Meter. Type in your habits and it compares your home's energy use with the local average.
GuideOver by the window is the Tower Model, which is a model of a wind farm you can switch on and watch spin.
GuideAnd at the far end, the Waste Tank — a slightly smelly favourite — turns rubbish into gas that then burns to make power.
