LeaderWelcome, everyone, to our Big Tree-Planting Day at Oakley. With so many of you, we've five teams, each with a clear job.
LeaderThe Digging Team does the main work. With spades from the shed, they plant young trees in the field, following the marked lines.
LeaderRight behind them, the Care Team. They water and mulch new saplings, giving each one the best possible start.
LeaderThe Guard Team has a vital task. They put up guards against rabbits, which would otherwise nibble every sapling.
LeaderThe Map Team carries clipboards. As trees go in, they record each tree on a map, so we can track them for years.
LeaderAnd the Welcome Team, by the gate, will serve hot drinks to helpers and keep everyone cheerful.
