LeaderRight, team, today we begin our reef survey. First, why is this reef worth protecting, Hana?

HanaBecause reefs cover a tiny area of the sea, yet they shelter a quarter of all ocean life.

LeaderExactly — small but vital. And what's the main thing harming this reef, Sam?

SamWarmer water. When the sea heats up, the coral turns white, which is called bleaching.

LeaderCorrect, and a bleached reef can still recover if the heat passes quickly.

HanaSo it's not always dead, just stressed?
