LeaMarco, before we polish the slides — remind me why we settled on student credit-card debt as our topic?
MarcoHonestly? Because I got into real trouble with a card myself in first year, and I wanted to understand exactly how it had happened.
LeaThat makes it personal, which is good. And what was the hardest part of the actual research?
MarcoDesigning the survey was easy enough. The real struggle was getting students to admit honestly how much they actually owed — people were embarrassed.
LeaI remember. Was there anything in the findings that genuinely surprised you?
MarcoVery much so. I assumed the debt came from big one-off buys like laptops, but actually most of it built up from everyday spending — coffees, takeaways, little things.
