LecturerToday I'll show how anyone can uncover the history of their own town, using clues that are all around us.
LecturerStart with street names. A road called Mill Lane usually tells you a mill once stood nearby.
LecturerOld maps are gold. By comparing two maps, you can see exactly how the town has grown over time.
LecturerBuildings speak too. The oldest part of most towns is almost always around the market square.
LecturerChurches keep records. Many hold registers of births and deaths going back four hundred years.
LecturerDon't forget people. An interview with an elderly resident can capture memories no document holds.
