LecturerToday's topic is solar power — the simple, remarkable trick of turning sunlight directly into electricity.
LecturerIt all happens in a thin square called a solar cell, which is made mostly from a material named silicon.
LecturerWhen sunlight strikes the cell, it knocks tiny particles loose, and that movement is what we collect as a current.
