LecturerToday I want to look at what the research tells us about the specific challenges of managing teams when members are in different locations or time zones.
LecturerA global survey of remote managers found that fifty-eight per cent cited communication breakdowns as their number one challenge.
LecturerThe same survey showed that teams using a shared digital workspace — such as a project board — completed tasks twenty-three per cent faster than those relying on email alone.
LecturerTrust is more difficult to build remotely. One effective strategy is the virtual check-in — a brief daily or weekly video call with no fixed agenda, designed purely to maintain human connection.
LecturerAutonomy matters enormously. Research shows that remote workers who are given clear goals but allowed to decide how to reach them report thirty-five per cent higher job satisfaction.
LecturerRecognition is also harder at a distance. Studies show that remote employees are forty per cent less likely to feel appreciated compared to office-based colleagues.
