LecturerToday's talk is about making cities greener, because more than half the world now lives in one.
LecturerThe first problem is heat. Concrete and tar trap warmth, making a city hotter than the countryside around it.
LecturerThe simplest cure is planting more trees, whose shade can lower a street's temperature noticeably.
LecturerA second idea is the green roof, a layer of plants on top of a building that keeps it cool.
